Ocean scientists are being requested by funding agencies, decision makers, and educators to provide outreach, communication and educational programs regarding their research.
The Researcher - Educator Exchange Forum (REEF) 2012, sponsored by COSEE SE, is a 2-day learning forum to help North Carolina scientists hone communication skills about their research and identify opportunities for outreach. REEF fosters collaboration among scientists, classroom educators, informal educators, and university media/news specialists.
Quotes from two REEF 2011 scientists:
“REEF gave me an opportunity to think about how to communicate with the public effectively and talk about it with others.”
“The best parts of COSEE and REEF were the connections I made with formal and informal educators.”
Who Should Attend REEF 2012
Any and all North Carolina scientists, educators, and media specialists interested in developing communication strategies to better prepare scientists in presenting current ocean science to various audiences.
