01.27.2012 - This joint meeting is an international gathering of more than 4,000 attendees and is being sponsored by The Oceanography Society, American Society of Limnology and Oceanography (ASLO), and the American Geophysical Union (AGU). 01.27.2012 - Kevin Kurtz, author of "A Day in the Salt Marsh," joins nature photographer, Karen Beshears, visual arts teacher, Marie Nichols, and marine educators for South Carolina Sea Grant and North Inlet-Winyah Bay NERR for a workshop designed to capture the science of the salt marsh through art and literature. 11.29.2011 - The Southeast Tidal Creeks Summit will be held at the Francis Marion Hotel in Charleston, S.C., Dec. 5-6, 2011. The summit is organized and sponsored by North Carolina Sea Grant in partnership with the S.C. Sea Grant Consortium, Georgia Sea Grant, North Carolina State University, The Coastal Society, Taylor and Francis Group, and Clemson University's Belle W. Baruch Institute of Coastal Ecology and Forest Science. 11.14.2011 - ^^Calling all USC Marine & Environmental Science Faculty!^^ ^^Calling all South Carolina Teachers!^^ Join COSEE SE at the SC State Museum on February 16, 2012 for the Science In Action: Night at the Museum where USC faculty can share their research through live specimens, demonstrations and small group conversations while exploring opportunities for sharing their research with teachers and students. 09.02.2011 - COSEE SE hosted the first Research Educator Exchange Forum (REEF) to assist new faculty with communicating their science to a wider audience. REEF, constructed on the communities of practice framework, will work regionally and locally with these scientists as they prepare to facilitate programs utilizing their new communication skills and strategies.  MORE >>
05.12.2011 - Only One Ocean, the new Banana Slug String Band children's music CD that features 14 songs about Ocean Literacy, has just won a prestigious 2011 Parents' Choice Award. Only One Ocean is also getting a Starred Review in the upcoming School Library Journal, and it will be featured on the next Ocean Gazing Podcast from COSEE NOW (see http://coseenow.net/). The accolades for this new release keep pouring in. The CD is a major element of the Ocean Literacy Campaign, the grass-roots movement to increase public understanding of the importance of the ocean in our everyday lives and to the health of the planet. Lawrence Hall of Science/COSEE California led the partnership between the Banana Slugs and several ocean sciences education organizations that resulted in the CD.  MORE >>
