Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia.
Sea Seekers (2008-2009)
"Enhancing Diversity in the Geosciences: Mentoring and Research Modeling for Middle School and University Students." South Carolina State University science undergraduate students mentored middle school students from Felton Laboratory School and engaged in field experiences and research projects designed to teach oyster habitats, water quality, and estuarine ecosystems. Both students and mentors interacted with local marine scientists from the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) and the NOAA Hollings Marine Laboratory to learn essential science concepts and how to design authentic science investigations. COSEE SE Multicultural Pathways to Ocean Sciences Education (2003):
"Multicultural Pathways to Ocean Science Education," is a charrette, designed to bring experience, passion and expertise together for a common purpose. The major goal is to assist SouthEast COSEE meet its objective to increase access of ocean sciences and ocean sciences education to underrepresented groups.
